10 Best Seafood Restaurants in Mazatlan
Mazatlan is known for it’s top notch seafood… The problem? Trying to decipher what is “the best”. With such a diverse range of restaurants “the best” tends to be pretty subjective. Do you want a palapa on the beach with the catch of the day? Or do you prefer an upscale sit down, night out type of place?
For the purposes of this guide (and after tasting probably close to 100 different seafood restaurants in Mazatlan) I am going to list the Top 10 that came to mind as if a friend asked me the question: “What is the best seafood restaurant in Mazatlan?”
#1 Los Arcos
Los Arcos my personal #1 for upscale sea food in Mazatlan. If you prefer a quieter ambiance, consider arriving before 7 pm. Personally, I enjoyed the lively atmosphere and witnessing families having fun. But let’s not forget the star of the show – the sea bass!
Cooked to absolute perfection with flavors singing in harmony, it was my personal favorite dish. If you’re looking for a delicious and vibrant dining experience in Mazatlan, Los Arcos deserves a spot on your list, especially if you have a soft spot for perfectly cooked seafood!
Recommended Dish: Sea Bass
#2 El Sinaloense Olas Altas
El Sinaloense is part of the big 3 for beer, banda, seafood. The music might be loud for some, but for true seafood lovers and those seeking an authentic Mazatlán experience…. the legendary tuna ceviche (seriously, the best!), and other seafood delights silence any doubts.
Despite the “party” reputation involved with Sinaloense, Pata Salada or Muchacho Alegre… El Sinaloense actually has some of the best seafood in town.
While there are several “beer, banda, and marisco” spots around town. El Sinaloense takes the #1 spot… and it’s not even close.
They have 2 restaurants here in Mazatlan but I much prefer heading to the Olas Altas location to watch the sunset paint the sky as you devour your meal.
For the best service ask for Lupita and an oceanfront table at the desk – kick back enjoy a cold one… and enjoy the true Pearl of the Pacific experience!
Recommended Dish: Anything with Tuna!
#3 Palmares
Mazatlán’s seafood scene just got a fresh catch with Palmares! Newly opened in Tres Islas shopping plaza, this restaurant already ranks #2 in the city’s best seafood and our #7 overall.
Boasting local, sustainable seafood cooked to perfection, a stylish ambiance, and warm service, Palmares offers a must-try experience for seafood lovers and newcomers alike. Dive into their impressive menu and discover why it’s a rising star in Mazatlán’s culinary ocean.
They are still new, so give it a couple months to perfect everything and we may be looking at Palmares moving up. If you are looking for upscale seafood at it’s finest – you can’t go wrong here.
Recommended Dish: Filete Mariner
#4 Loco Locos
Nestled on the Sabalo Country beachfront, Loco Locos isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. A local favorite among long-time expats, it’s run by Javier and Jaime, who pour their hearts into creating a homey atmosphere with an unbeatable ocean view.
This is not your upscale seafood type of restaurant at all…. It’s family owned and operated and the view can’t be beat…. but always solid and the price is always right. Want something not on the menu? Just ask Javier to see what he can do!
Whether you’re starting your day with the best hashbrowns in Mazatlan or ending it with a breathtaking sunset and perfectly cooked fresh seafood, Loco Locos delivers. It’s the kind of place where the food feels like a warm hug, and the memories linger long after the last bite. So, for a taste of Mazatlán magic and genuine hospitality, don’t miss Loco Locos!
Recommended Dish: Shrimp Platter
#5 Lety’s (Stone Island)
While not in Mazatlan proper – it would be a tragedy to not mention Lety’s in our list of best seafood in Mazatlan! Located just a 5 minute boat ride from Playa Sur – Stone Island is home to Restaurante Lety’s where you can find dining on the beach at it’s finest.
If anyone else tells you to go somewhere else on Stone Island… tell them they are crazy! While I love to try new places to dine… In my 4+ years living in Mazatlan – I have never gone elsewhere when visiting Stone Island (and that is 2-3 times a month). There is just no reason.
Lety’s is home to the best coconut shrimp in Mazatlan. Try them once and it’s impossible to eat anywhere else.
And I am still waiting to find better lobster. If you love garlic and butter on your shellfish – this is your place. It’s not on the menu – but shoot Felipe (the owner) a message through their Facebook page and he’ll have it ready for you!
Recommended Dish: Coconut Shrimp or Lobster
#6 El Cuchupetas (Villa Union)
Here is another restaurant that isn’t located in town… But Cuchupetas is the original seafood joint in Mazatlan. Located about 20 minutes outside of Centro in Villa Union Cuchupetas is a staple in Mazatlan seafood.
Starting off with one little dining room it has grown into a full blown operation taking up 3 city blocks while not losing it’s old-school charm. Walk into any of their dining halls and you will be greeting with photos of all the diners who have been there… from former presidents to the most popular influencers – this is THE place to eat seafood in Mazatlan.
Traditional menu just done a bit better than what you are used to. If you make the trip you can’t skip Camerones Cuchupetas…. grilled shrimp with a special house made salsa that will melt in your mouth.
Recommended Dish: Camerones Cuchupetas
#7 Marde Fundo (Centro)
Mazatlán’s culinary scene boasts hidden gems like Mar de Fondo, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience its magic twice. Nestled in a tranquil courtyard, the friendly and attentive staff sets the stage for a delightful meal.
Their focus is chilled seafood with a creative twist, and everything hits the mark. The shrimp zarandeado is a crowd-pleasing appetizer, while my personal favorite is the decadent tuna tostada adorned with gold flakes.
But the true heart of Mar de Fondo lies in Lu, the owner, whose passion shines through in every dish. If you seek a peaceful escape with exceptional seafood prepared with love, this hidden gem awaits!
Recommended Dish: Shrimp Zarandeado
#8 Puerto Azul
Puerto Azul located palapa row on the malecon is another one of our beachfront favorites. It’s pretty simple…. Ask anyone from town where the best pescado zarandeado is and you won’t get one answer that isn’t Puerto Azul.
This is the spot we always bring out of town guests for a true beachfront experience. They start by bringing out 3 red snapper on a tray. You pick the size. They grill it with whatever special marinade they use and walah – lunch on the beach for 4. Go here hungry but expect a wait. Usually it takes about 45 minutes to hit your table.
Recommended Dish: Pescado Zarandeado
#9 Mariscos El Torito
Mariscos El Torito holds a special place in Mazatlán’s culinary landscape. With both the original location off Avenida Rotarismo and the newer spot in Marina, it consistently garners rave reviews. What sets El Torito apart is its unwavering reliability—the kind of place where you know you’ll enjoy a satisfying meal.
Now, let’s talk about that elusive dish—the pescado fillet with poblano sauce. It’s like chasing a flavorful mirage through the streets of Mazatlán. The tantalizing blend of tender fish and rich poblano goodness keeps me coming back. If you find the secret, do share—it’s a quest worth pursuing!
Recommended Dish: Fillet with Poblano Salsa
#10 Fisherman’s Mazatlan
Craving epic ocean views and the best aguachile in Mazatlán? Look no further than Fisherman’s! This malecon gem reigns supreme as our choice for #1 beachside dining and aguachile in mazatlan, offering a tri-color aguachile masterpiece that tantalizes taste buds.
But the deliciousness doesn’t stop there – coconut shrimp, squid ink pasta, even their burger are all guaranteed to please. Just a heads up, while everything is reasonably priced, cooked shrimp might set you back a bit more compared to other spots in the city…. Still, for an unforgettable beachfront experience and aguachile that sings, Fisherman’s is a must-visit!
Recommended Dish: Aguachile Tri-Color

Beer, Banda, Mariscos – The Mazatlan Seafood Experience
Mazatlan offers a unique seafood experience that combines delicious cuisine with vibrant local culture. Three significant locations battle for the top spot of this experience (featuring beer, banda, and seafood) are El Sinaloense, Pata Salada, and Muchacho Alegre.
Sinaloense refers to the culinary traditions of Sinaloa, the state in which Mazatlan is located. And is our top place in this list. Although I prefer banda to norteno – the food here can’t be beat and the vibe makes impossible to have a bad night.
Pata Salada is a term used to describe locals who have a deep appreciation for seafood, reflecting the city’s seafood-rich heritage…. The restaurant is located on the beach and has some pretty good food as well.
Muchacho Alegre is another popular seafood joint where locals and tourists alike can enjoy delectable seafood dishes accompanied by live Banda music, a traditional Mexican music genre. There is always a line… but skip it and head up the street to El Sinaloense instead.
